Hemobrás will build the largest blood derivatives plant in Latin America, in a 57407 yd² area at the city of Goiana, located in the north of Pernambuco state, 40 miles away from Recife. It will be one of the anchors of the Pernambuco’s pharma hub, whose 345 hectares area can harbor 36 industries.
Budgeted in R$ 540 million, the industrial plant will have the capacity of processing, annually, 500 thousand liters of plasma, the raw material for blood derivatives. The plant will begin its production in 2014, elaborating the following medicines: albumin, used in burnt patients or com cirrhosis and in major surgeries; immunoglobulin, which works as an antibody for people whose organism have no immunologic defense; factors of coagulation VIII and IX, protrombinic complex and Von Willebrand’s factor, destined to people with hemophilia.
See the plant’s main blocks:
Block 01 – Plasma storage. With a 3229 yd² area, it will be one of the most important blocks in the plant. In this place, the reception will be made, as well as the selection and stowage of the Brazilian human plasma, which is the raw material of the blood derivative medicines to be produced in the country. The product will be stored in a cold chamber at -35º Celsius, operated by two machines.
Block 02 – Building in which plasma fractioning is made in order to produce blood by products.
Block 03 - Building reserved for the medicines wrapping and liofilization (dehydration).
Block 04 - Packaging building.
Block 05 - Building reserved for the accomplished products storage and the stockroom.
Block 06 - Quality control lab building.
