Hemobrás will build the largest blood derivatives plant in Latin America, in a 57407 yd² area at the city of Goiana, located in the north of Pernambuco state, 40 miles away from Recife. It will be one of the anchors of the Pernambuco’s pharma hub, whose 345 hectares area can harbor 36 industries.

Budgeted in R$ 540 million, the industrial plant will have the capacity of processing, annually, 500 thousand liters of plasma, the raw material for blood derivatives. The plant will begin its production in 2014, elaborating the following medicines: albumin, used in burnt patients or com cirrhosis and in major surgeries; immunoglobulin, which works as an antibody for people whose organism have no immunologic defense; factors of coagulation VIII and IX, protrombinic complex and Von Willebrand’s factor, destined to people with hemophilia.
